How simulations work

Each game plays out through randomized, sport-specific events using the selected season’s available player stats and team ratings. Baseball uses batting average, home runs and pitching ERA; other sports use their available scoring, offense and defense inputs. Lineups, home field and sport-specific matchup factors also influence play.

A fresh simulation can produce a different winner. Replaying the same game preserves its result. Estimated ratings are labeled where used; simulated scores are not historical results or guarantees.
